Why MKC is Different

Most colleges were built around large lecture halls, limited individualized support, and the expectation that students will figure everything out on their own. Maximilian Kolbe College was designed differently.

At MKC, students learn in small cohorts, receive built-in support from learning therapists, participate in hands-on experiential learning, and gain meaningful paid work experience through Kolbe Works. Every part of the college is intentionally structured to help students grow academically, socially, and professionally.

The MKC Difference at a Glance

Traditional College                                                                                                                           Maximilian Kolbe College

Large classes where students can feel anonymous                                     Small classes and cohorts where students are known

Support often comes only after a student struggles                                     Support is built into the weekly college experience

Students navigate college largely on their own                                               Learning therapists, faculty, and peers provide consistent guidance

Learning is often lecture-based                                                                           Learning is active, relational, and hands-on

Work and academics are usually separate                                                       Kolbe Works integrates paid campus employment into student growth
